The Department of Energy (DOE) released a statement last month saying that ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1 - 2010 Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings offers 8.5% source energy savings and 7.6% site energy savings over the 2010 version. When it comes to domestic hot water recirculation design, OSHA safety provisions and ASHRAE 90.1 energy efficiency requirements have put plumbing engineers between the proverbial rock and hard place.
